Infertility / childlessness causes great frustration and distress to any couple in several ways. Most of this agony is suppressed from the public gaze. The childless couples are socially isolated and emotionally vulnerable. It is often the woman who has to bear the brunt of the impact. Childlessness concerns both the partners’ even if either one of them needs medical attention. Male factor fertility problems occur is approximately 40% of the couple.

Infertility is a condition when conception does not take place even after one year of regular, unprotected sexual intercourse. It can affect either the male or female. There has been a recent increase in the number of infertility cases reported throughout the world. An estimated 10-15% of the married couple initially have the problem and need evaluation. Approximately 40% of them relate to male, 40% to female and 20% to both.
